How much does it cost to rent a car in Cuba?
Renting a car in Cuba costs from $55 USD per day with the Hyundai Grand I10 up to $240 USD per day with the Maxus G10. The price depends on the car, how many days you rent it and the season. On top of that there's daily insurance and a few charges paid in Cuba.

Example: 7 days with the cheapest car
A 7-day rental of the Hyundai Grand I10 in regular season works out like this: $59 × 7 rental days + $25 × 7 days of insurance = $588 USD. If you pick it up at an airport, the $20 USD airport fee is added.
What you pay separately
- Fuel: Not charged in the booking. It's paid in cash at the pickup office in Cuba, based on the amount in the car and the current price.
- Security deposit: the rental company asks for it when you pick up the car and refunds it when you return it in good condition. The amount depends on the car.
- Airport fee: $20 USD per rental if you pick up at an airport. City offices don't charge it.
- Additional driver: if someone else will drive, it's paid per day at the rental office.
- Driver's age: drivers aged 21 to 24 and older drivers pay a daily surcharge.
- Returning in another province: free with REX. With Cubacar and Havanautos a drop-off fee is paid in Cuba, which depends on the province.
How to save on your rental
- Rent for more days: from 7 and from 14 days the daily price drops.
- If you're not arriving by plane, pick up at a city office and skip the airport fee ($20 USD).
- Avoid high season (Christmas and summer), or book months ahead to secure the car.
- If you'll travel across the island and return the car in another province, choose a REX car: it doesn't charge for that.
